Speaking on Sunday during a performance review meeting involving the
vice presidency for parliamentary affairs, ministries and government agencies,
Pezeshkian said all executive bodies should manage their energy consumption in
a way that prevents the need to cut electricity or gas supplies to industries.
“Embedding a culture of proper energy consumption is one of the
government’s strategic goals in managing the country,” Pezeshkian said.
He added that he would personally lead efforts to change consumption
behavior, noting that he had instructed officials at his workplace to turn off
heating, cooling and electricity systems in unused offices.
“Each of us should take a step toward reforming consumption patterns
and reducing energy use,” the president said.
Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of addressing public needs and
improving living conditions, saying that government institutions should focus
on identifying solutions and taking practical measures to address challenges
facing society.
The remarks come as Iran continues efforts to optimize energy
consumption and manage demand across different sectors, including government
institutions and industries.
