Speaking to industry media on Saturday, Malek Shariati-Niasar, a
senior member of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, underscored the strategic
role of the petrochemical sector as a primary engine of national industrial
growth and export earnings.
Legislative Oversight and Resource Mobilization
Following an on-site inspection of damaged processing facilities,
Shariati-Niasar noted that Parliament is coordinating with government agencies
to eliminate administrative and financial bottlenecks hampering reconstruction
efforts.
"The Energy Committee, in collaboration with other parliamentary
bodies, is actively pursuing critical issues including project financing,
equipment supply lines, and operational hurdles that require cabinet-level
authorization. The goal is to accelerate the full restoration of processing
units to baseline capacities," said Mr. Shariati-Niasar.
Strategic Petrochemical Hubs and Operational Resilience
Shariati-Niasar pointed to key industrial zones—specifically the Petrochemical
Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) in Bandar Mahshahr and the Pars Special
Economic Energy Zone in Asaluyeh—as vital core hubs powering downstream
industrial supply chains across the country.
The lawmaker commended engineers, technical personnel, and plant
managers across affected sites for their rapid operational response and ongoing
field repairs aimed at keeping critical domestic chemical and polymer supplies
stable.
