Mostafa Nakhai said Iran’s petrochemical industry retains significant
expansion potential across both upstream and downstream segments, citing
opportunities to extend value chains and increase the production of
higher-value products.
“The petrochemical sector possesses exceptional capacity for
development,” Nakhai said in remarks reported by Nipna. He added that expanding
downstream industries and completing value chains could enable the sector to introduce
a broader range of products to the market.
Nakhai also emphasized the importance of directing available domestic
liquidity toward productive investment, describing the petrochemical industry
as a major source of foreign-exchange earnings that can contribute to meeting
the country’s economic needs.
He said regulatory frameworks and greater industry alignment are among
the most important factors supporting the sector’s long-term development.
According to Nakhai, the National Petrochemical Company can play a central role
in carrying out supervisory and governance functions while acting as a
regulator for petrochemical activities.
The lawmaker also identified the reconstruction and modernization of
oil and petrochemical facilities as a national priority, expressing confidence
that affected facilities would return to operation through ongoing management
and recovery efforts within the oil and petrochemical sectors.
