TEHRAN, June 12 (NIPNA) – Iran’s Petrochemical Research and Technology Company has developed domestic technical know-how for producing a new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) grade designed for gas-tight bottle caps, marking a first in the country’s petrochemical industry.

The newly developed material features high resistance to environmental stress cracking and strong processability for high-speed production lines. It is intended for use in caps for carbonated beverage bottles.

According to the company, the technology was developed at its HDPE semi-industrial unit, where it successfully completed all downstream industrial testing phases. Test results confirmed that the locally developed grade can fully replace imported equivalents.

Officials said the achievement represents a step toward strengthening domestic technological capabilities and reducing reliance on foreign petrochemical materials, in line with broader industry development goals.
