NPC Says Priority Feedstock Supply for Industries Maintained

TEHRAN, May 25 (NIPNA) – The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said supply of priority raw materials for downstream industries is continuing despite recent operational disruptions, with product availability and market conditions showing gradual improvement.

NPC downstream industries development director Mohammad Motaghi said coordinated supply-chain management measures and emergency planning helped stabilize deliveries following damage to several petrochemical facilities in Mahshahr and Assaluyeh.

He said the company implemented pre-planned contingency measures based on passive defense protocols before disruptions occurred, including inventory management, storage allocation, and prioritization of essential materials for downstream manufacturing sectors.

According to Motaghi, an emergency committee comprising representatives from the petrochemical sector, the Ministry of Industry, the commodity exchange, and consumer protection authorities coordinated supply management for key products during the period.

He noted that deliveries continued despite logistical constraints, with approximately 70% to 80% of product shipments maintained after the incidents. He added that many downstream manufacturers had already secured around two months of feedstock inventories in advance.

Motaghi said authorities also maintained domestic pricing formulas at pre-conflict levels for feedstocks and petrochemical products, despite higher global prices, in an effort to prevent excessive cost escalation in local markets.

He attributed recent price volatility largely to distribution and end-market conditions rather than upstream shortages, pointing to rising supply volumes on the commodity exchange and declining market tensions in recent weeks.

The official added that most petrochemical facilities in the affected regions are now in restart or pre-startup phases, with domestic supply prioritized over exports during the recovery process.

He also said import procedures for selected products, including polypropylene, PVC, and PET, have been simplified to support market balance, while coordination with the Ministry of Industry continues on quota management and monitoring of downstream demand.

Motaghi said current production and import programs are expected to ensure availability of priority goods, with broader market stabilization anticipated over the coming weeks as supply conditions improve.
