TEHRAN, May 23 (NIPNA) – The head of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has called for stronger energy efficiency measures, improved productivity, reduced energy waste, and more optimal use of existing capacities as a national priority.

Hassan Abbaszadeh, deputy petroleum minister and managing director of the company, issued the message on the occasion of National Energy Efficiency and Optimization Day, framing it as an opportunity to reassess energy consumption and resource management practices.

He said recent incidents affecting parts of the country’s oil and gas infrastructure underscored the importance of efficiency, resilience, and smart energy management, elevating the issue to a strategic priority.

Abbaszadeh added that Iran’s petrochemical industry views productivity not as an option but as a structural necessity, particularly in maintaining production stability, rebuilding capacity, and strengthening infrastructure.

He emphasized that progress in the sector depends on coordination, innovation, technological development, consumption reform, and broader participation across industrial and social stakeholders, while acknowledging the role of professionals and workers in the energy value chain.
