TEHRAN, May 4 (NIPNA) – Iran’s Government Information Council has commended the Ministry of Petroleum for what it described as effective and coordinated media management during a 40-day wartime period and in the rollout of fuel pricing adjustments on emergency fuel cards.

Elias Hazrati, head of the council, said on Monday that the ministry’s public relations units demonstrated what he called “effective crisis communication,” particularly during a period of heightened regional tensions and domestic policy changes.

Speaking at a meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum’s communications department, Hazrati said the broader state communication apparatus had played an important role in shaping public understanding of recent developments.

He said Iran had faced a coordinated information campaign by adversaries but added that official communication efforts helped counter misinformation and maintain public confidence.

“Through timely reporting and rapid clarification of uncertainties, public access to information was managed in an orderly manner,” he said, referring to the fuel pricing adjustments implemented through emergency distribution mechanisms.

Hazrati added that while government communication performance had been “acceptable,” he believed significant capacity remained underutilized, particularly in digital and real-time information channels.

He emphasized the importance of rapid response during crises, saying authorities must be able to produce tailored messaging for different audiences and make better use of social media platforms.

The council chief also said the “narrative dimension” of recent conflicts had been as important as the operational dimension, arguing that Iran must continue to strengthen its media presence to ensure its perspective is properly reflected internationally.

Separately, Saman Ghodousi, head of public relations at the Ministry of Petroleum, said ministry communication teams were fully mobilized during the conflict period, working to manage information flows, counter rumors and coordinate with relevant authorities.

He said the oil sector had maintained operational continuity while also documenting developments and managing public communication under difficult conditions.

Ghodousi added that new directives from the petroleum minister placed increased emphasis on long-term energy awareness, consumption efficiency, and systematic documentation of wartime developments within the industry.

He said coordination meetings had been held across different levels of the ministry to ensure accurate recording of events and thanked the Government Information Council for its support during the period.
