TEHRAN, April 9, 2024 (NIPNA) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Thursday that national cohesion and synergy are crucial for Iran to overcome significant challenges, asserting that the government stood in full solidarity with the armed forces during a recent period of defense.

In a message commemorating the 40th day since the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Pezeshkian highlighted that the nation's integrated resistance, the bravery of the armed forces, and the government's continuous service were instrumental in achieving a significant victory: the acceptance of terms for a ceasefire by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He emphasized that this difficult passage and subsequent global respect were lessons learned over decades from the late Supreme Leader.

Pezeshkian detailed that the government remained actively engaged throughout this "sacred national defense," ensuring the continuity of essential services such as healthcare, medicine, essential goods, and fuel distribution, while maintaining social and public security.

He further noted that concurrent diplomatic efforts involved consultations with regional and international actors to de-escalate the crisis and convey the plight of the Iranian people to the world.

The President also addressed the nature of the imposed conflict, describing it as an attack not just on military targets but on the very fabric of Iran, including civilian infrastructure, educational and scientific centers, and historical heritage.

He stressed that the nation's resilience stemmed from a deep love for the homeland, its history, and its national honor.

Pezeshkian reiterated that the decision for a ceasefire and negotiations was made with the consensus of the main pillars of the system and the approval of the Supreme Leader, prioritizing national interests and territorial integrity.

He affirmed Iran's desire for coexistence and fair peace with regional nations, stating that the recent defense was a powerful response to aggression aimed at destabilizing the region.

The President concluded by expressing confidence in Iran's enduring strength and its people's ability to build a brighter future.
