In a
televised address following the deaths of the Supreme Leader and other
prominent figures, Pezeshkian offered condolences to the Iranian people.
He described
the deceased as martyrs, victims of what he termed "so-called proponents
of human rights, freedom, and humanity" who allegedly disregarded
international law by bombing civilian areas.
The President
expressed gratitude to the Iranian people for their resilience and presence in
public spheres despite hardships.
He
specifically lauded Iranians from all backgrounds who, he said, demonstrate
patriotism by defending Iran's territorial integrity, thereby disappointing its
adversaries.
"Today,
we must set aside all our differences, grievances, and problems and join hands
to powerfully defend this land and soil," Pezeshkian stated.
He dismissed
the notion of Iran's unconditional surrender as a "pipe-dream" for
its enemies.
Pezeshkian
reiterated Iran's commitment to international laws and human rights frameworks,
urging others to adhere to them as well.
He asserted
that no entity has the right to disregard the legitimate rights of nations,
including Iran.
In a
significant development, the President offered an apology to neighboring
countries that were targeted by Iranian forces in what he described as
"defense and response to enemy aggression."
He explained
that the Iranian nation, having lost its beloved leader, brave commanders, and
heroic armed forces to what he called "brutal enemy aggression," is
striving to defend its territorial integrity and honor.
"We have
never intended and do not intend to invade any of our neighboring countries,
and we have repeatedly said they are our brothers," Pezeshkian said,
emphasizing Iran's desire for lasting peace and stability in the region through
cooperation with its neighbors.
He revealed
that a decision was made on Saturday by the provisional leadership council and
communicated to the armed forces, stating that "from now on, there should
be no attack on neighboring countries, unless those countries initiate an
attack on us."
Pezeshkian
stressed that such issues should be resolved through diplomacy rather than
conflict that could lead to further complications with neighboring states.
The President
assured the public that all ministers and government forces are fully dedicated
to their roles and will spare no effort in serving the people.
He
acknowledged that Iran is currently in a "war-like situation" despite
having prepared for and being ready for conflict.
Pezeshkian
prayed for divine strength to defend the nation's territorial integrity and
honor, hoping it would serve as a lesson for future generations about Iranian
unity in times of need.
He issued a
direct message to neighboring countries and certain groups considering
exploiting the current situation for attacks, urging them "not to become
pawns of imperialism." He warned that such actions, supported by the
"genocidal Zionist regime and the arrogant United States," would be
seen as lacking dignity and honor.
"Becoming
pawns of colonizers and genocidal regimes is unjustifiable," he concluded.
"For those who imagine they can achieve their freedom and honor through
such actions, it is nothing more than a mirage. True honor cannot be attained
alongside the deceitful, the liars, and the global plunderers. If we have
differences amongst ourselves, it is better to sit down and resolve them,
rather than becoming pawns of the Israeli regime and the United States."
