ASALUYEH, Feb 1 (NIPNA) – A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Asaluyeh region in southern Iran on Sunday morning, but officials reported no damage to petrochemical plants or ongoing projects in the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone.

Peyman Esfahani, CEO of Damavand Energy Asaluyeh and head of emergency and civil defense for the region’s petrochemical companies, said the earthquake occurred at 08:41 local time and was centered 24 km from Asaluyeh at a depth of 18 km.

“Fortunately, no accidents or damages have occurred, and all complexes are operating normally and in production,” Esfahani told local media.

The quake affected areas including Kangan and Dayyer in Bushehr province, but the region’s critical energy and petrochemical infrastructure remained fully operational.
