TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (NIPNA) — Iran’s Petroleum Minister on Wednesday described inspection and oversight as essential pillars in safeguarding national assets and strengthening public confidence in state institutions, underscoring the role of inspectors in preventing corruption and enhancing accountability across the oil sector.

In a message read at a gathering of oil industry inspection chiefs to mark National Inspection Day, Minister Mohsen Paknejad said that as Iran’s oil industry undergoes modernization and transformation, every decision and initiative must be implemented “with maximum transparency and minimum deviation from national interests.”

“Inspection is a vital element in protecting national resources and public trust in service-oriented institutions such as the oil industry,” Paknejad said in the statement, adding that inspectors play a decisive role in safeguarding human and physical capital, improving processes, and fostering a culture of responsibility.

He instructed all affiliated companies and organizations under the Petroleum Ministry to strengthen their inspection departments and align with the ministry’s key oversight policies, including:

  • Enhancing human resources and developing specialized knowledge among inspectors;
  • Promoting preventive approaches through greater transparency and management of conflicts of interest;
  • Upholding inspectors’ professional independence in supervisory processes;
  • Applying modern technologies to upgrade monitoring methods and electronic oversight systems;
  • Expanding inter-organizational coordination and building cooperative inspection networks.

Paknejad expressed appreciation for the “integrity and dedication” of inspectors working within the ministry, describing them as “guarantors of the oil industry’s health, vitality, and credibility.”

He concluded by calling for continued commitment and collective effort to help achieve the ministry’s strategic goals in “national strength, sustainable development, and sincere service to the Iranian nation.”
