TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (NIPNA) – Iran’s Lorch Petrochemical Industries Company has successfully applied domestic technical know-how developed by the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) to its methanol production unit, marking a milestone in the country’s ongoing drive for technology localization in the petrochemical sector.

The collaboration between PRTC and Lorch Petrochemical Industries led to the successful design, modeling, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of catalyst tubes, as well as a full stress analysis of the reformer assembly and the entire process gas network of the methanol unit.

PRTC engineers, together with energy, mechanical, and modeling specialists from Lorch, completed the project using fully indigenous expertise and resources. The report said that Lorch’s confidence in domestic specialists and coordinated teamwork between both companies were key factors in achieving this technological success.

The Lorch Petrochemical Project, located in the Parsian Energy-Intensive Industrial Zone in southern Iran, is currently under construction. Once operational, it is expected to produce methanol and downstream derivatives, completing the product chain and contributing to Iran’s value-added petrochemical output.
