TEHRAN, Oct. 6 (NIPNA) — A technological collaboration between Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company and Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has led to the successful execution of the “Ethylene Unit Simulation and Optimization” project, marking a new achievement in Iran’s petrochemical innovation efforts.

According to the company’s public relations report, over the past three years, Bandar Imam Petrochemical has placed growing emphasis on industry–university cooperation, as well as partnerships with science and technology parks and knowledge-based companies. This strategic approach aims to enhance efficiency, localize technical know-how, and reduce reliance on foreign technologies, paving the way for a series of effective and innovative collaborations.

In the latest such initiative, a joint team from Bandar Imam Petrochemical and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad successfully completed the Ethylene Unit Simulation and Optimization project in 18 months.

The designed simulator incorporates 12 core subprocesses and has been developed to facilitate the operation of ethylene units. The system can predict plant performance and output under varying feedstock conditions, providing operators with a powerful decision-support tool.

The project’s successful completion marks a significant step toward higher operational efficiency, reduced energy costs, and technological advancement, contributing meaningfully to the sustainable development of Iran’s petrochemical industry.
