TEHRAN, Oct 4 (NIPNA) — Iran’s Petroleum Minister and senior officials convened on Saturday to review the country’s winter fuel supply plans, as updated figures show a sharp rise in liquid fuel and natural gas reserves compared with the same period last year.

The meeting — held at the Petroleum Ministry headquarters and attended by Minister Mohsen Paknejad and other senior executives — focused on ensuring stable and timely energy supply ahead of the cold season, particularly after last year’s early onset of winter temperatures.

Data presented during the session indicated that liquid fuel stocks in power plant and National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) storage facilities have more than doubled year-on-year, reflecting the ministry’s strong commitment to maintaining fuel security.

In the first half of the current year (1404), the Petroleum Ministry also sustained steady gas feed to power plants despite unprecedented heat and record electricity demand. Gas deliveries to the country’s power sector rose by 2 billion cubic meters from the same period last year, reaching 50.2 billion cubic meters.

Other topics discussed included measures to expand raw gas production onshore and offshore, the allocation of equivalent fuel to major industries and power stations, and ongoing gas injection into storage facilities at Shourijeh and Sarajeh.
