MAHSHAHR (NIPNA) – Deputy Petroleum Minister Hassan Abbaszadeh called for stronger integration between research institutions and the petrochemical industry during a visit on Tuesday to the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) in Mahshahr’s Special Economic Zone.

Abbaszadeh, who also serves as CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), emphasized the need to fully utilize existing research capacities to support industrial development. He described the PRTC’s proximity to major production complexes as a strategic advantage that should be leveraged to meet the sector’s technological demands.

“Research infrastructure must be directly aligned with the goals of industrial growth,” he said in a meeting with PRTC executives and researchers. “Petrochemical companies should make effective use of the laboratory, scientific, and technological capabilities available at this center.”

Stressing that research should not be disconnected from industry, Abbaszadeh called for “smart and structured measures” to link the two, asserting that R&D must ultimately serve the goals of production and resilience.

He also pointed to the role of public infrastructure in supporting the private sector, positioning PRTC as a scientific and strategic arm for production companies in improving efficiency and innovation.

Abbaszadeh urged the research division to proactively identify the technological needs of petrochemical firms and respond with targeted, problem-oriented solutions. He emphasized the necessity of an efficient communication system between research and production units.

During his visit, the deputy minister toured PRTC’s laboratories, pilot facilities, and ongoing projects, expressing appreciation for the efforts of its staff and leadership.
