IME Records 575,000-Ton Trade in Polymers, Chemicals in July

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Nearly 575,000 tons of various polymer and chemical products were traded on the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in July, highlighting the continued strength of the country’s petrochemical sector.


The IME's oil, petrochemical, and petroleum products trading floor saw a total of 425,043 tons of polymers and 149,777 tons of chemicals change hands over the month.

In total, 2.2 million tons of goods and products were traded in this segment in July 2025, across both domestic and export markets, with a cumulative value of 74.7 trillion tomans.

Other major trades included:

  • 771,855 tons of bitumen
  • 606,500 tons of vacuum bottom
  • 167,500 tons of lube cut
  • 56,245 tons of sulfur
  • 19,350 tons of base oil
  • 2,522 tons of petroleum products
  • 2,237 tons of waterproofing materials
  • 1,370 tons of industrial gases

Meanwhile, the industrial and mining products hall saw transactions totaling 3.45 million tons worth 99.7 trillion tomans, including:

  • 1.8 million tons of steel
  • 1.0 million tons of iron ore
  • 522,500 tons of sponge iron
  • 45,520 tons of aluminum
  • 27,395 tons of copper
  • 8,290 tons of zinc
  • 1,030 tons of molybdenum concentrate
  • 102 tons of precious metal concentrates

The exchange’s simultaneous auction hall recorded the sale of 5.1 million tons of cement, while the agricultural trading floor witnessed the exchange of 950 kilograms of saffron worth 93.1 billion tomans.

Additionally, 97,135 tons of various other products worth 3.56 trillion tomans were traded in the IME’s secondary market during the same period.
