The Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company stressed the importance of completing the methanol value chain, stating that cooperation with international companies can facilitate the establishment of MTO, MTG, and MTA units.

According to NIPNA, Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, along with representatives from petrochemical holding companies, explored opportunities for collaboration with foreign companies to complete the methanol value chain on the sidelines of the Chinaplas 2025 exhibition.
Based on this report, considering Iran’s methanol production capacity and the necessity of developing downstream methanol chains, several meetings were held with providers of technical knowledge for MTO, MTG, and MTA processes.
It is worth noting that through these processes, methanol can be converted into gasoline, olefins, and aromatics, which, in addition to having more applications in the domestic market, also offer a more diverse export market.
Although some of these licenses have no reference plants and have not been commercialized yet, the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, during the negotiations, expressed readiness to cooperate through joint ventures in the field of technology and licensing of these processes with reputable foreign companies.
According to NIPNA, Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, along with representatives of petrochemical holdings, visited the advanced logistics facilities and infrastructure of Taicang Port, Feima Warehouse, and Feisu Port during Iran Day at the Chinaplas exhibition and discussed future cooperation opportunities with Chinese companies.
This exhibition was held from April 15 to 18.
