TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company (BIPC) is set to become Iran’s largest polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producer, with production capacity increasing to 775,000 tonnes per year, as the company advances its strategic two-chain chlorine development project.

According to Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC), the expansion is part of the Bandar Imam Novin projects and utilizes a 1,500-hectare salt lake to boost the company’s chlorine value chain output to more than 2.6 million tonnes annually.

The chlor-alkali unit, a key component of the expansion, has achieved 55% engineering progress, while 50% of piling operations have been completed. Additionally, old equipment has been dismantled, and 14 hectares of land have been leveled for the project.

In the first phase, the plant will produce 330,000 tonnes of caustic soda and 300,000 tonnes of chlorine gas, supporting domestic demand and expanding export market opportunities.
