Petrochemical Industry Heads Convene for Non-Operational Defense Meeting

SHIRAZ (NIPNA) -- The inaugural meeting of non-operational defense chiefs in the petrochemical industry was hosted by Shiraz Petrochemical Company, featuring the Director-General of Non-Operational Defense and Crisis Management of the Ministry of Petroleum.

According to the Public Relations Department of Shiraz Petrochemical Company, the first session of collaborative discussions among non-operational defense chiefs in the petrochemical industry took place at the company's premises. The meeting, hosted with the aim of assessing the performance of the petrochemical industry in the realm of non-operational defense and crisis management, witnessed the participation of the Director-General of Non-Operational Defense and Crisis Management of the Ministry of Petroleum, as well as executives from HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) and non-operational defense of the National Iranian Oil Company, the National Petrochemical Industries Company, and the representative of the Non-Operational Defense Organization in the chemical defense sector.

On the initial day of this session, discussions delved into evaluating the performance of the petrochemical industry in non-operational defense and crisis management. Emphasis was placed on the necessity of implementing non-operational defense principles in the structure of complexes and petrochemical projects. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and challenges facing the petrochemical industry were also discussed in light of its growth, development, and the integration of new technologies, including artificial intelligence.

The first day concluded with a Q&A session between non-operational defense chiefs of petrochemical complexes and senior managers of the Ministry of Petroleum's non-operational defense department, addressing operational challenges in the non-operational defense sector.

On the second day of the session, Shiraz Petrochemical Company hosted two training courses on the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Crisis Management Team Performance Evaluation during Major Incidents.

During the Business Continuity Plan training, participants gained insights into the significance of the plan and its implementation in petrochemical complexes. The course covered risk identification and assessment, plan development, and execution during incidents.

Simultaneously, in the Crisis Management Team Performance Evaluation course, participants learned about evaluating the performance of crisis management teams during significant incidents. Topics included team formation, roles and responsibilities identification, conducting exercises, crisis management maneuvers, and performance evaluation during emergencies.

It is noteworthy that these training courses are part of ongoing efforts to enhance crisis management capabilities and ensure the petrochemical industry's preparedness during unforeseen events.
