Books Unveiled on Petchem Environmental Achievements

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – National Petrochemical Company (NPC) unveiled two books on Saturday showcasing the industry’s achievements in the fields of health, safety and environment.

 

The books, titled “Green Space of Petrochemical Industry” and “Collection of Requirements and Guidelines for Emergency Management in Petrochemical Industries”, were presented by Morteza Shahmirzai, deputy oil minister and NPC managing director, at the 27th International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition in Tehran.

Davoud Emadi, head of health, safety and environment at NPC, said at the ceremony that 2,885 hectares of green space had been created in the petrochemical industry.

He said the Environmental Protection Organization required 10% of industrial land to be green space, but in the petrochemical industry 53.5% of the land was green.

He said the book “Green Space of Petrochemical Industry” detailed the green space created by different petrochemical companies and hubs and their future plans in this regard.

Emadi also said that more than 10 trillion rials ($238 million) and more than $60 million had been spent on environmental issues in the petrochemical industry in the past five years.

He said the book “Collection of Requirements and Guidelines for Emergency Management in Petrochemical Industries” was compiled to provide instructions for managing emergency situations in petrochemical plants.

He said the requirements and guidelines for safety, firefighting, health and environment in the petrochemical industry had existed before, but this book was aimed at making them more practical.
