TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran, one of the world's major oil-producing nations, is gearing up to launch its first APG (associate petroleum gas) processing complex in Howeizeh, a city located in the southern part of the country.

The announcement was made by the Iranian Minister of Petroleum, Javad Owji, during a press conference held on Wednesday.

According to Owji, the APG processing complex, which is set to become operational soon, will have a daily processing capacity of 250 cubic feet of flare gas. The facility is expected to process gas from several fields, including North and South Azadegan, Yadavaran, Yadegaran, and Yaran as well as the fields located in the West Karoon region, all located in different parts of the country. The project is a significant investment for the country's petroleum sector, with an estimated cost of $1.3 billion.

The launch of the APG processing complex is a crucial step for Iran as it seeks to reduce its reliance on traditional sources of energy and move towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. The project is also a testament to Iran's commitment to the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

The development of the APG processing complex has been hailed by experts as a significant achievement for Iran's energy sector. The country has been investing heavily in its energy infrastructure in recent years to boost its oil and gas production and export capabilities.

Furthermore, Morteza Shahmirzaei, the Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs and the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), has expressed his full support for domestic manufacturing and producers. Shahmirzaei emphasized that the development of the APG processing complex is part of the country's broader efforts to promote domestic manufacturing and enhance its petrochemical production capacity.

The launch of Iran's first APG processing complex is a significant milestone for the country's energy sector. It represents a crucial step towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future while also boosting Iran's standing as a major player in the global energy market.
