New Petchem Era by Creating Value Added

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The Deputy Minister of Petroleum and the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said: "Completing the product chain and creating value added should be considered with the aim of reducing crude sales, and this means starting a new period of activities in the industry."

 Morteza Shahmirzaei, in a meeting with the CEOs of petrochemical companies based in Assaluyeh, stated that Iran's petrochemical industry has a very good perspective in its development.

"Currently, 68 production complexes with a nominal production capacity of about 90 million tons per year are operating, which according to the plans, the production capacity of the petrochemical industry is expected to exceed 100 million tons by the end of the next calendar year [to March 20, 2023]," he said.

Shahmirzaei emphasized on the support, interaction and cooperation of the National Petrochemical Company with the petrochemical companies of Pars region in order to facilitate and remove some obstacles in the production route, adding: "There are very good capacities for the development and completion of the value chain in the region and use them in the best way.”

Emphasizing that the duty of the National Petrochemical Company as a government and development-oriented institution is to support various sectors of the industry, he said: "Completing the chain and creating value added should be considered with the aim of reducing crude sales.”

He continued with the cooperation of Pars Energy Special Economic Zone Organization and National Petrochemical Company, some problems of petrochemicals in the region will be solved in the shortest possible time.
