TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company said: "In completing the value chain and downstream industries, efforts are being made to develop the projects by using the basic products of the petrochemical industry as feedstock."

During a visit to Assaluyeh on Monday, Behzad Mohammadi noted that the petrochemical industry is the first effective industry in the country's macro-economy, adding: “The role of this industry in the prosperity of industries is very valuable. The industry's revenue is expected to reach $21.5 billion this [calendar] year.”

Emphasizing the continuation of the development of the value chain of the petrochemical industry, he added: “In order to achieve balanced and sustainable development, in addition to paying attention to the economics of projects, which are also in good condition, special attention should be paid to environmental issues and social responsibilities; sustainable and balanced development cannot be achieved without considering environmental standards and social responsibilities.”

The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company stated that currently 80 new projects have been defined in the petrochemical industry, and with the implementation of these projects, the industry's revenue will reach $50 billion annually by 2027,

Of these 80 projects, 65 projects have progressed over 37% and the remaining 15 projects are in the early stages, he said.

Mohammadi continued 34 projects out of the 80 new defined projects will be fed from upstream sector, the oil and gas industry, and the other projects in the development of value chain completion will receive their required feed from the petrochemical industry.

"I am confident that the face of the petrochemical industry will be changed by 2027, and we will be able to reach $50 billion in revenue generation by producing new products.”
