TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company said 21 petrochemical plants are scheduled to be linked to West Ethylene Pipeline which will generate $3.7 billion in annual revenue by 2025.

Addressing a ceremony to sign a contract between National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and Oil Industries Commissioning and Operation Company (OICO) to cede operation of West Ethylene Pipeline to the latter on Sunday, Behzad Mohammadi pointed to the increase in the number of complexes connected to the West Ethylene Pipeline to 21 complexes by 2025, and said: “The capacity of ethylene injection to West Ethylene Pipeline will reach 3.5 million tons and its revenue will reach $3.7 billion annually.”

"This line is one of the important steps taken by the administration to develop the petrochemical industry in the western part of the country, which began in the 2000s,” he said.

“With the inauguration of West Ethylene Pipeline, the produced ethylene was transferred from Assaluyeh, south of Iran, to the northwest of the country and many companies benefited from the offshoots of this pipeline.”
