The NPC CEO as well as top officials from the company attended
the ceremony.
During the meeting, Behzad Mohammadi, speaking on Saturday
(May 15) at the meeting to start the EPCC contract for the GTPP project of
Islamabad-West Petrochemical Plant, said: “Today's meeting is an important one,
the employer and the contractor will work together as a management and
implementation team and will move in line with the goals of the project; only
their plans are different.”
Regarding the features of the project, he said: "The
Islamabad-West project is the first project to be built after privatization by
the National Petrochemical Company with the technical savvy of the Petrochemical
Research and Technology Company (PRTC). It is hoped that the activities will
proceed according to the plan and reach the desired results.”
The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company stated that
this important and national project will be built for the first time in the
country with the aim of producing propylene using available natural gas. “In
the past years, several licenses were issued, but due to lack of technical
knowledge, implementation stage was never reached, but now this project is being
implemented with the local technical knowhow.”
Construction of Islamabad-West Petrochemical Project, as the
first project to produce polypropylene from natural gas in the country with an
annual production capacity of 120,000 tons of final polypropylene product,
began by the order of the First Vice President on February 7th.
This $545-million project will be constructed by the National
Petrochemical Company on a 54-hectare land in the Zagros Special Economic Zone
with the technical knowhow provided by the Petrochemical Research and
Technology Company.
During construction phase, the project will create 4,500
direct and indirect jobs.
