TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The Secretary General of Iran's Association of Petrochemical Industry Corporation (APIC) voiced the country’s eagerness to end the monopoly of catalyst supply by empowering the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC).

Speaking to NIPNA, Ahmad Mahdavi-Abhari announced the readiness and serious cooperation of petrochemical companies with the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company in order to localize the catalysts needed by the industry, and said: "We are looking to produce all the catalysts needed by the industry. I hope that with the cooperation of the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company and the researchers and experts of this company in the near future, we will not need to import catalysts anymore.”

He added: "Catalysts have an effective and important role in the petrochemical industry, and if there are no catalysts, in fact, the petrochemical industry cannot operate, and now in the year of "production, supports and removing barriers ", Iran's petrochemical industry relies on domestic capacity to increase its production capacity.”

Emphasizing that the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company and the R&D of all petrochemical companies are trying to localize the catalysts, the Secretary General APIC continued: "Fortunately, we have achieved success in this field and have added many different catalysts every year. We have localized and produced quality catalysts inside the country.”
