Iran Bracing to Launch 5 Petchem Projects in Spring

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Five projects from the second-leap project portfolio of the petrochemical industry will be operational in the spring of the next Iranian calendar year, a petrochemical official says.

Amir Vakilzadeh, the director of projects at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said that during the current calendar year, which began on March 21, implementation and operation of some projects faced certain obstacles and problems due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, but with the efforts made, no project has been hamstrung.

He said that in the spring of next calendar year, the remaining five projects out of 17 projects planned for the current year will be fully operational, adding: “According to the plans, Sabalan, Phase 1 of Masjed Soleiman, Parsian Sepehr, Phase 1 of Arta Energy and the first phase of Ibn Sina Petrochemical projects will be put into operation in the spring of the next calendar year.

The director of projects at the National Petrochemical Company stated that the development of the value chain is viewed as a strategy at NPC, adding: "We seek to develop the chain in various dimensions so that in addition to preventing crude sales, diversify the portfolio of petrochemical products and create higher value added.”

This year, to realize the second leap of the petrochemical industry, Kaveh, Hegmataneh, Miandoab, Pars Petrochemical, Middle East, Lordegan, Phase 1 of Bushehr Petrochemical, Lorestan Catalyst Production Unit, Potassium Sulfate, Urmia Petrochemical, Bidboland Gas Refinery, the second phase of Ilam Petrochemicals and Kangan Petro-refinery projects came on stream.
