Petchem Industry, Engine of Iran Development: CEO

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) says the petrochemical industry has become the drive of Iran’s development.

Addressing the second conference and exhibition of support for domestic manufacturing, Jafar Rabiei said today large companies can be lead the stream of growth and development in the country.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the event, he said fortunately, the petrochemical industry in recent years, has proved its usefulness to the country and “we are very happy that today, everyone acknowledges that the petrochemical industry has become a valuable industry for the country under very difficult sanctions and, of course, functions as the engine of the country's development.”

Acknowledging the role of small and medium-sized companies in the development of the country, he added: "The role of large companies is like a locomotive that creates work and activity space for small and medium-sized companies by moving forward. Today, countries are known for their large corporations. Why shouldn't we have very large international companies? Why is there no company in Iran in Fortune 500?”

Rabiei continued: "Despite being selected as the largest company in Iran in terms of sales volume, we had half of the sales of the largest company in Turkey and this must change.”
