SIPEIM, PGPIC Ink MoU to Build $2.7b Petchem Project

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The Society of Iranian Petroleum Industry Equipment Manufacturers (SIPIEM) and the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to maximize the share of domestic companies and manufacturers to implement the $2.7-billion mega project of Mahshahr Diamond Petrochemical Plant.

According to the press office of the second conference and specialized exhibition on support for domestic manufacturing in the petrochemical industry, the memorandum was signed on Wednesday on the sidelines of this specialized event.

PGPIC CEO Jafar Rabiee and Majid Mohammadpour, Chairman of the board of directors of SIPIEM, Safar Ali Babaei, the CEO of Petrochemical Industries Development Management Company, Ehsan Saghafi, a member of the board of directors of SIPIEM, and Mehdi Qarouni, the CEO of Mahshahr Diamond Petrochemical Company, signed the document.

According to the memorandum, the parties will provide goods and equipment required from capable domestic manufacturers for the construction and operation of Mahshahr Diamond Petrochemical Plant, including an olefin unit, three polyolefin units and its ancillary units, with an investment volume of about $3 billion and with the goal of increasing the share of equipment localization to 85% of the total items required for the project.

According to the MoU, SIPIEM, as a legal entity, will functions as a facilitator and supervisor in the supply of equipment for this project, and will introduce competent and capable member companies in the field of goods and services required by the project.
