TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company announced the implementation of new olefin projects using Bidboland Gas Refinery as feeder.

Behzad Mohammadi, who was speaking on Thursday at a ceremony to officially launch Bidbolan Gas Refinery, said: "Today is an honorable day for the country's oil and petrochemical industry, and with the opening of Bidboland Persian Gulf megaproject, the 11th project of the second leap basket of projects in the current calendar year was put into operation."

He said that this valuable project, while providing sustainable feedstock for the petrochemical industry, will extinguish the oil field flare stacks, adding, "With the opening of this project, while supplying feedstock to downstream petrochemical units, associated petroleum gas from three provinces of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Bushehr and Khuzestan will be collected and will become the feedstock required for this refinery in NGL 900, 1000, 1200 and 1300 plants."

The Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs further noted that the first item produced in this refinery is methane that is injected into the national gas pipeline, adding: "Part of the ethane of this refinery will be used to feed new poly-olefin at Gachsaran Petrochemical Plant and another part will supply for the lack of feedstock for the olefin units in Mahshahr petrochemical zone."

Mohammadi stated that the propane, butane and gas condensate produced at the refinery will be transferred for exports, adding that the Persian Gulf Bidboland gas refining project is equivalent in size to two phases of South Pars gas field.
