TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) and the Chemistry Engineering and Chemical Research Center of Iran (CCERCI) are keen on to continue cooperation in the three branches of technical knowhow development for MTO, PDH and CAN.

Behzad Mohammadi, Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs and the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company, paid a visit to CCERCI on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

During the visit, he underscored the keen support of the NPC for close cooperation of its research arm, i.e. PRTC, with CCERCI in various key petrochemical fields including PDH, MTO and ACN.

MTO is the technology for conversion of methanol to light olefins; PDH concerns conversion of propane to propylene, and ACN concerns Acrylonitrile value chain.

Iran is heavily investing on projects in 4 chains of methanol, propylene, benzene and ethylene. Some of these projects will be operational in the form of the third leap of the petrochemical industry by 2025 and some of them by 2027.

In general, the technical savvy of these projects is produced or obtained with the help of the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, which will be the driving force behind the petrochemical downstream industry, and the products supplied in these chains will provide feedstock for downstream industries.
