Iran Sees 42% Growth in Number of Petchem Plants Since 2013

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The number of Iran's petrochemical complexes has seen a 42% growth from 45 back in 2013 to 64 by the end of this summer.

The growth and development of Iran's petrochemical industry is accelerating and statistics show that in the past 7 years, production capacity with a 30% growth of in the industry has increased from 56.7 million tons per year to more than 74 million tons by the end of summer (September 22).

Also, by the end of this calendar year to March 20, 2021, with the realization of the second petrochemical leap in the country, the industry’s production capacity is expected to reach 85 to 90 million tons, indicating a 50% increase.

Production of Iranian petrochemicals from the beginning of this calendar year to October 22 rose over 8 percent year-on-year to hit 35 million tons.

Iran's petrochemical industry, as one of the parent industries, is one of the most important pillars of development and the driving force of various sectors.
