Seyed Mohammad Hossein Shariatmadar, a member of the Energy
Commission of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines, said that
the petrochemical industry is on the path to development and progress, adding, "The
prosperity of the petrochemical industry is undeniable, and given the efforts
made in the Iranian petrochemical industry, this industry is now on the path to
prosperity and development, and regarding its effective functions in the
economy, the sector needs support.”
He added: "In recent years, with reliance on the capabilities
Iranian experts and researchers, many achievements have been made in the field
of petrochemicals, and as industry officials have stated, the third leap of the
petrochemical industry is under way. Realization of this plan will increase the
production capacity of petrochemical products annually.”
Shariatmadar emphasized that if the third leap in the
petrochemical industry is accompanied by completion of the value chain as well
as a boom in production in the middle and downstream industries, in addition to
creating abundant employment, it will bring a lot of value added to the
country.
“Downstream petrochemical industries can make a big
contribution to the country's economy. Developing and strengthening this sector
requires planning and investment, though,” he added.
