Karoun Petchem Plant Unveils Strategic Grade

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Karoun Petrochemical Plant has unveiled KLM100B (L) grade in order to complete the value chain of polyurethane production cycle.

The item is produced with a capacity of 2500 to 5,000 tons per year based on market demand.

This item will be produced for the first time in the Middle East in order to meet the needs of mid and downstream industries of the country's polyurethane industry.

Production of the item will bring multiplied value added to Karoun Petrochemical Plant and will render the country needless of importing the grade.

Alireza Sedighizadeh, CEO of Karun Petrochemical Plant, addressing the unveiling ceremony of KLM100B (L) grade, stated that the amount of import of this product in 2019 was 5,000 tons, and said: “The nominal annual production capacity of KLM100B (L) grade is 5400 tons. The item is one of the vital grades for production of pre-polymers used for production of shoe soles and cold foam molds in car seats, office chairs and furniture.”

Previously, the item was imported from China, South Korea, Turkey, Germany and the United States and cost the country so much. Now, it is produced domestically through the catalytic reaction of liquefaction of Pure MDI and the formation of carbodiimide groups in two types: KLM100B (L) and KLM100B (H).
