TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of Arya Sasol Petrochemical Company said his company had broken the country’s polyethylene output.

According to the plant, it witnessed a 52% increase in sales, a 41% increase in year-on-year operating profit and a record for the production of 386,000 tons of polyethylene at a 300,000-ton unit.

Amir Hossein Bahreini said HDPE and LDPE units of the plant operated with 300,000 tons per year of installed capacity but yielded 386,000 and 370,000 tons of products during the previous Iranian calendar year which ended on March 19.

He said a world record for continuous uninterrupted production at the light density polyethylene unit for 201 consecutive days was set at the plant, besides a record for uninterrupted production of heavy and medium density polyethylene for 604 days.

The successes were made possible by removing production bottlenecks in the olefin unit of the plant, he said.

Bahreini added: "The implementation phase of the value-creating project of construction of a new polyethylene unit with an annual capacity of 300,000 tons will begin this year and will be put into operation in the second half of 1401 (which begins on March 21 2022)."
