Iran to Boost Petchem Output with $11.5b Investment

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said Iran would launch 17 petrochemical projects in the second petrochemical leap of the country with $11.5 billion investment.

Speaking to NIPNA, Behzad Mohammadi said the projects would add 25 million tons to the country’s annual petrochemical production capacity.

He also said that 7 projects would come on stream during the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, adding the projects are located in southern and southwestern petrochemical hubs of Assaluyeh and Mahshahr, respectively.

Iranian petrochemical companies supply 66 million tons of petrochemicals per year currently.
