Iran-made Catalysts Used in Miandoab Petchem Plant

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of Bakhtar Holding Company said local catalysts were used in Miandoab Petrochemical Plant, adding: "For the first time, a local catalyst is used in a complex producing polyethylene."

Davood Reza Rabbani, the CEO of Bakhtar Petrochemical Holding Company, announced on Thursday (June 25), at the inauguration ceremony of Miandoab Petrochemical Complex by the Iranian President, that the plant would supply 140,000 tons of PE annually which would bring the holding’s total PE output to 1.5 million tons per year.

He said the holding company accounted for 10 percent of the country’s petrochemical export revenues which would jump to 15% by fully operation of Miandoab Petrochemical Plant.

Rabbani pointed to the use of local catalysts in the project, and said: "For the first time in Iran, local catalysts are used for producing polyethylene, which have been produced in Bakhtar Holding Group."

Bakhtar Holding's CEO continued: "Construction of Miandoab Petrochemical Complex started in 2016, and last week it started production.”

He said the project had created jobs for 8,000 people directly; a figure which would reach 16,500 once the holding company launches its other projects by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 2021.

Rabbani added: "180 trailers transport our solid products daily, which will reach 200 trailers with the inauguration of Miandoab Petrochemical Complex.”
