15% Cut in COD Content of Bandar Imam Wastewater

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant has put environmental protection top on its agenda, and construction of the company's central treatment plant has progressed 56% while its COD emission has been cut by 15%.

According to the plant’s PR office, the Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant’s Central Treatment Project is one of the largest environmental projects of its kind in the country, which had progressed by 56% by the end of last calendar year which ended on March 19.

The company owns the country’s largest landfill where it buries waste from other companies beside its own.

Other environmental activities by the company include planting over 8 million seedlings in recent years.

Furthermore, installation of online chimney analyzer systems in the complex, quality improvement and daily monitoring of all pre-treatment systems and wastewater treatment plants, replacement of all the complex’s lamps with low-consumption ones and purchase of a lamp elimination device, expansion of the company's IT infrastructure and electronic correspondence in order to reduce traffic and paper consumption have been other projects of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant in order to protect the environment.

It also managed to reduce the COD content of its wastewater by 15% in the year in comparison to the preceding year.
