TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group (Petrol) has planned to launch 4 petrochemical projects aimed at completing the value chain.

The CEO of Petrol stated: “In the year named "Production Leap" by the Supreme Leader, Petrol intends to build four projects with a total investment of more than 100 million dollars.”

Preventing sale of crude oil and gas, developing downstream industries, preventing the import of certain petrochemical items and creating sustainable employment in under-developed areas, are other objectives sought in developing the projects, said Rasoul Ashrafzadeh.

As he said, the projects include a methyl amine project with an annual production capacity of 22,500 tons and an investment of $40 million in Songhor, Kermanshah province; a plant for production of caustic soda with 45,000 tons of production capacity and $10.3 million investment in Mahshahr, a melamine crystal project with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons and an investment of $41.6 million in Lordegan, and a poly aluminum chloride project with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons and an investment of $39.11 million in Urmia.

Construction of the plants will begin in the current calendar year, which began on March 20.

Ashrafzadeh noted that with implementation of the four projects, the production capacity of the country's petrochemical industry will increase by about 100,000 tons per year.
