TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iranian private sector is keen on supporting the country’s petrochemical sector, an official with the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said.

Speaking to NIPNA, the vice president of the industry and mining committee of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said the Iranian private sector was prepared for supporting the petrochemical industry in its development.
Alireza Kolahi Samadi stated that the path opted for by petrochemical industrialists was the right one despite the sanctions and the ensuing restrictions.
He said the private sector supported the industry in a bid to curb sale of crude oil and gas and production of end-user items.
“According to the Central Bank of Iran, the petrochemical industry accounts for the lion’s share of the country’s hard currency generation, signifying the sector’s important role in enhancing non-oil exports and generation of foreign exchange.”
He further called for proper support for the sector by private and state organizations.
