According to
the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC), the project was
carried out in the reformate furnaces unit of the facility.
The project,
entitled as "Investigating Different Ways to Reduce Heat Loss and Optimize
Energy Consumption in Noor Petrochemical Plant’s Reformate Furnaces Unit,” was
successfully completed by the energy and mechanical team of the company.
According to
a statement by the company, firstly, existing bugs and different operational
strategies for reducing heat loss, increasing efficiency and optimizing energy
consumption in furnaces were modeled and simulated, performing multiple CFD
analyzes on combustion quality and heat transfer in 9 different furnaces, and
then in the next phase based on the results, the project was carried out.
According to
Mehdi Hamzei, project manager PRTC, in this project, new nozzles and diffusers were
designed and built for use in the furnaces and after months of analysis and
observation, the results indicated that a 17 to 20% reduction in energy
consumption was observable in the furnaces.
