TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Ilam Petrochemical Plant in western Iran is planning to launch a sulfur recovery unit (SRU) which will save the company €10 million by relying on domestic forces for its completion.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Ilam Petrochemical Plant and Noorhan Sanat Company on engineering design and supply of equipment, materials and goods and manufacturing, installation and commissioning of sulfur recovery unit and granular sulfur with the annual capacity of 8815 tons based on Claus Process and by using the technical savvy of the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI).

Rasoul Ashrafzadeh, managing director of Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group, told a ceremony to sign the document: "The technology is owned by the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry and after implementing this project due to the holding’s policy of maximizing the use of indigenous knowledge and the use of Iranian licenses, the technology will be exploited in other units as well."

The CEO of Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group Company emphasized that implementation of the project would save €10 million in foreign exchange for the plant by tapping local resources.
