TEHRAN (NIPNA) – A senior iranina petrochemical official said that the amount of feedstock allocated to petrochemical facilities would equal 1.7 million barrels per day of oil by 2025 in Iran.

Speaking on the final day of 4-day Iran Plast International Exhibition in Tehran on Wednesday, Behzad Mohammadi, the CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), told reporters that an annual amount of 33 million tons (equal to 650,000 b/d of oil) was being supplied to petrochemical plants operating in the country.

The 13th Iran Plast international exhibition began on Sunday, September 22 and rounds up on September 25 at Tehran’s permanent fairgrounds.

He said by realization of the second leap in the petrochemical industry, 62 million tons per year of feedstock (equal to 1.4 mbd of crude oil) will be supplied to the sector by 2021.

Iran is planning to materialize its third petrochemical leap from 2021 through 2025.

“This figure will reach 1.7 mbd by 2025 when the third leap in the industry is realized.”

He said that the number of jobs created in downstream industries is very eye-catching in the petrochemical industry, adding for every ton of production in the downstream petrochemical sector, 170,000 jobs are generated.
