Speaking to NIPNA, Shahbaz Hassanpour Biglari argued that enhancing petrochemical
exports was one of the levers to fortify the country’s economy against the
sanctions, adding that products manufactured by this industry are consumed as raw
materials for many sectors of the economy and, in this regard, the industry is very
important and is always of interest to policy makers in the country.”
The MP pointed to the influential position of the petrochemical industry
in Iran's economy, stating that there are few industries that do not depend on
the petrochemical industry and its downstream branches, and this valuable
industry needs more support for its development.”
"Gas production is increasing in Iran, so in addition to creation
of new hubs and also the current hubs, namely Assaluyeh and Mahshahr, on the
coast of Makran, gas is also to be turned into valuable petrochemical products
with the aim of producing various petrochemical items.”
Makran is a semi-desert coastal strip in Balochistan, in Pakistan and
Iran, along the coast of the Gulf of Oman.
