Speaking in a televised interview on Sunday evening, the official said petrochemical
production value of the country would increase by 8 to 9 billion dollars per
annum by 2022 in comparison with the 2018 figures which is a major leap in the
“Fortunately, a major portion of the country’s output is consumed
domestically as feedstock by other plants in the value chain of items,” he
Zangeneh added that currently around 5 billion dollars of feedstock was
being supplied to downstream industries which could be increased if there was a
demand for it.
He further said that imposing sanctions on the petrochemical sector
would not impact the industry because the sanctions were nothing new in the industry
and the US used them as a means to run its propaganda against Iran.
