TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- An official with the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said the company viewed Parsian Energy Intensive Industrial Special Economic Zone (PEIISEZ) as a priority for attracting foreign direct investments.

Speaking to NIPNA, Hossein Alimorad, NPC’s director of investment, said the zone was linked to the 7th national gas trunkline, adding the Iranian Minister of Petroleum had also authorized construction of another gas pipeline for feeding future petrochemical plants in the area.

The official said, “We are trying to direct foreign investors to PEIISEZ as it would become the third petrochemical hub of the country in the future.”

He further said that NPC was faced with a large number of proposals for building plants in Assaluyeh, southern Iran, due to the fact that feedstock supply was secured in the area.

Alimorad said given the fact that the NPC and the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum had intended to turn PEIISEZ into a petrochemical hub, ranks were being closed to provide the area’s master development plan as soon as possible so that the plants could be built afterwards.
