TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iranian petrochemical plants supplied 36.7 million tons of petrochemical products over the course of the first 8 months of the current calendar year, which began on March 21.

The director of production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Ghodratollah Farajpour, said the plants operated on average at 77 percent of their nameplate capacity during the period despite all the difficulties they had faced that were caused by fluctuations in the FOREX market.

He said the output was 3 percent higher year-on-year, adding an output of 54.7 million tons of petrochemicals was expected in the sector by the end of the year, 2% higher than last year.
