TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Director General of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Department of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) said the holding meticulously monitored its subsidiaries and ongoing petrochemical projects for emissions and pollution.

Speaking to NIPNA, Mohammad Ali Khademian said, "Assessment of the status of companies is ongoing on the basis of the Sustainable Development Index just like the previous year, and the monthly monitoring of environmental pollution of the companies included in the list of polluting industries is being carried out.”

He also said that a training course for 30 evaluators of the PSM Safety Management System would begin by mid-July at PGPIC.

PGPIC governs dozens of petrochemical plants across the country and yields the lion’s share of petrochemical output of Iran.

The company was recently targeted by US sanctions on Iran.
