Jalil Sobhani, the CEO of Supplying Petrochemical Industries Part
Equipment and Chemical Engineering Company (SPEC), told NIPNA the above, adding
there were three groups of catalysts used in the petroleum industry.
The first group of catalysts are valuable metals that were often used
in refineries and production of over 90 percent of them are indigenized, he
said.
According to Mr. Sobhani, the second group of catalysts are metal-based
catalysts which are used in urea and ammonia, methanol and steel plants.
Domestic suppliers can provide over 90 percent of these catalysts, too.
As he said, the third group of catalysts were used in polymer process
in petrochemical plants of which nearly half can be domestically produced and
the rest would be indigenized by September by SPEC.
The official further said that the catalysts supplied in Iran could be
exported on international markets as they could compete with their foreign
rivals in terms of quality.
