Speaking
to NIPNA, Hossein Amiri Khamkani, deputy head of the parliament’s energy
committee, said the role of petrochemicals in economic prosperity of Iran was
undeniable and the sector was moving on despite all the difficulties the country
is facing.
He
said oil, petroleum products and petrochemicals made up the lion’s share of Iran’s
exports while the US was trying to prevent their exports, but the Rouhani
administration was exerting every effort to ensure exports and repatriating the
revenues.
The
MP said over the past 4 decades since the victory of the Islamic Revolution back
in 1979, many achievements had been made in the sector and many items used in
the industry had been domestically supplied by Iranian manufacturers.
He
also said that petrochemicals played a key role in expanding the country’s
development potentialities and preventing export of raw materials.
